GARY OBERT IVERSON

GARY OBERT IVERSON

Gary Obert Iverson began his next journey Nov. 14, 2022. Gary was born July 24, 1958, the oldest son of Obert and Patty (Baily) Iverson. Gary graduated from Black River Falls High School in 1976.

After high school, Gary worked at Nelson Muffler and Arrowhead Lodge. In 1995, he began his career as a correctional officer for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, retiring in 2015 from Jackson Correctional Institution.

Those who knew Gary know he was a man of few words, an avid golfer and a dedicated sports official.

If Gary wasn’t at home, working or with family, he could be found on a field, court or diamond officiating the sports he loved. When he wasn’t officiating, he could be found in the stands cheering on his granddaughters, nieces and nephews.

Gary is preceded in death by his father, Obert Iverson, and brother-in-law Michael Stensven.

Gary is survived by his mother, Patty Iverson; twin daughters Rebecca (Brad Sexton and Ramona (Casey) Peterson; his granddaughters, Nora, Alida and Bailey; brothers Gene (Pam) Iverson, Gordy (Kelly) Iverson and sister Sandra Stensven.

Gary will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to Jackson County Little League, Lincoln Youth Athletic Association or Cross of Christ Cougar Athletic Association.

Lastly, the family encourages you to become an official of youth sports.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Skyline Golf Course in Black River Falls, WI. There will be a service at 1:30 p.m. As Gary was an avid sports fan, please come dressed in your favorite sports apparel.
