CLARINE NELSON

 

     Clarine Joy Nelson, known to many as “Toni Nelson,” lost her battle with ovarian cancer after a valiant fight March 27, 2023. She was born to Howard and Thelma Overby April 6, 1953. She married the love of her life, Clayton, June 20, 1970, and together, they shared over 52 years of marriage. They have three sons, Craig, Chad and Christopher. Clarine drove school bus for the Black River Falls School District for 16 years. After the boys were out of school, she went to tech school becoming a travel agent for Higgins Travel for over 18 years; here they were able to travel the world and enjoy many wonderful trips together. The most recent trip was a trip back to Alaska in May of 2022.

     Summers were spent up north at their camper on Long Lake where they enjoyed fishing together on their pontoon and the camaraderie spent around the campfire. Family was very important and was celebrated with two grandchildren, Tristin and Pieper, whom she adored.

     Clarine is survived by her husband, Clayton; sons Craig, Chad (Mandolyn) and Christopher; and grandchildren Tristin and Pieper. She is also survived by special aunts Barbara Ryan of Brookfield, WI, and Mary and Larry Hrubesh of Pleaston, CA, and uncle Duane and Judy Overby of Eau Claire, WI; niece Jennifer (Justin Kohls) and great-nephew Memphis Kohls and great-niece Savana Kohls; brother-in-law Charles and Rita Schnick and nephew Travis Schnick; and many cousins and special friends.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Larry; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harlow and Marjorie Nelson; and sister-in-law Sharon Nelson.

     Clarine’s funeral service will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church Saturday April 1, 2023. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. with the service at 11 a.m. Lunch will follow service.
