DORIS ARTHUR
Doris Jean Arthur, 84, of Alma Center, WI, formerly of Edgerton, WI, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 15, 2023, in West Salem, WI, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born Friday, Sept. 30, 1938, to John and Lillian Tucker in Chicago, IL.
Doris married Henry E. Arthur Sr. Oct. 12, 1956, in Edgerton, WI, where they raised their three children, Barbra J. (Nolan) Ripp of Janesville, WI, Henry E. (Traci) Arthur Jr. of Greenwood, WI, and Timothy (Denise) Arthur Sr. of Hixton, WI. They later moved to Merrillan, WI, and they were blessed to celebrate 50 years of marriage.
Doris was very passionate about baking, cooking and crocheting. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, bird-watching and camping. Doris worked for many years as a cook at the Lake House Inn and the Newville Café, and she was also an avid cake decorator.
Doris’ love for life came from her 11 grandchildren, Andrea Arthur, Johnathan (Nicole) Arthur, Henry (Danica) Arthur, Alissa (Levi) Johnson, Emily (Matt) Meyer, DeAnna (Andrew) Barhtye, Timothy (Eugene) Arthur Jr., Justin Barhtye, Jennifer (Ron) Ramirez- Wells, Lisa (Phil) Carl and Megan Ramierz. She was blessed with 25 great-grandchildren.
Doris is survived by her companion and loyal friend, Roger Cummings of Alma Center, WI, where they spent the last 17 years together. She is further survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her nephew, Bobby, great-niece Heidi (Tony), three great- great-nieces and one great- great-nephew, along with many dear friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, half-brother Edwin and her husband Henry E. Arthur Sr., who passed away in November 2006.
Funeral services for Doris took place Thursday, April 20, 2023, at the Jensen- Modjeski Funeral Home at 5 p.m. Reverend Terry Marg officiated. Friends and family were invited to visitation from 12 p.m. until the time of service. Burial followed Friday, April 21, 2023, at the Fassett Cemetery in Edgerton, WI, at 1 p.m.
