KARENA LEA (SNAKE) CUSTODIO

     Karena Lea (Snake) Custodio, 45, of Black River Falls, WI, passed away Aug. 22, 2023, at Gunderson Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, WI, surrounded by her family. She was born July 28, 1978, in Black River Falls, the daughter of Norman D. Snake Sr. and Cheryl Lynn Decorah.

     She worked various jobs for the Ho-Chunk Nation. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts, baking and spending time with family and friends. Karena had a big heart; continuously trying to help others no matter her own situation. 

     Karena is survived by her children, Miguel (Winnie) Custodio Jr., Alejandro (Thea) Rodriguez, Michaela (Isaias) Custodio and Marissa (Jordan) Stabler; sister Tricia Snake-Custodio; brother Marlin Keith Snake; grandchildren Taylan, Benson, Anevay, Xavier, Eliyanah, Ezra and Liyana; and aunts Gloria Perez and Doris Cummings.

     She is preceded in death by her parents, Norman Sr. and Cheryl Snake; siblings Norman Snake Jr.; and son Darus Stabler. 

     Funeral services for Karena took place Friday, Aug. 25, 2023, at the District One Community Center at 12 p.m. Shannon Rave officiated. Friends and family were invited to visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service. There was also a visitation Thursday, Aug. 24, 2023, at the Buswell Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Burial immediately followed the service at the Decorah Cemetery.
