SAMUEL PHILIP MILLS

     Samuel Philip Mills, 80, died in his home in Las Vegas, NV, Oct. 18, 2023.

     Sam was born in Black River Falls, WI, to Philip “Peeper” Mills and Mildred (Halverson) Mills. He was a graduate of Black River Falls High School (‘61), UW-Eau Claire, and earned his master’s from Winona State. A lifelong sports lover, Sam was an athlete, a coach and a fan. He will be remembered for leading the McFarland High School boys basketball team to back-to-back Wisconsin state championships in 1973 and 1974.

     Sam was preceded in death by Millie, Peeper, his siblings, Dan and Mary, and his son-in-law, Rob Frisby.

     He is survived by his three daughters, Jennifer Frisby, Heather (Dale) Trettel and Ellen (Ben) Callet; as well as four grandchildren (Eleanor Frisby, Riley Trettel, Olivia Trettel, and Ava Trettel) and a large extended family, including his ex-wife, Marie Bush. 

     Sam relocated to Las Vegas where he lived out his final decades. We will hold on to the fond memories of the past and the deep hope that his last years were happy and peaceful.
