WARREN MILLARD

     After a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, Warren Millard, 76, went home to be with Jesus on his 55th wedding anniversary, June 14, 2024.

     Warren was born Nov. 29, 1947, to Gyle and Eunice Millard.

     He graduated from Lincoln High School of Alma Center, WI, and went to college at UW-River Falls.

     Warren was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Darlene Brager, in 1969.

     He and Darlene raised their family and spent their life in Garden Valley. They wintered in Casa Grande, AZ, where they made many wonderful friends over the last 25 years.

     Warren was a longtime Christmas tree grower, farmer and gifted entrepreneur—who loved the adventure of a new business idea. At different times, Warren raised beef and hogs and had a small dairy herd. In addition to Christmas trees and traditional crops, he had nursery stock and grew ginseng and flowers for dried floral arrangements. He created a small mobile home park in the middle of one of his Christmas tree fields and built a storage unit business. He had a logging mill, a trucking business and was a hay jockey, harvesting crops with his crew off the fields of Nebraska and the Dakotas. He bought, refurbished and rented many properties, both in Wisconsin and Arizona, all with the help and support of his devoted wife, Darlene.

     He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Donna, Jeannie and Kolene; and brother Norman.

     Warren is survived by his wife, Darlene; daughter Ramona (and Mitch) Erickson; son Michael; four grandchildren; sisters Nadeen (Denny), Heidi (Larry), Susan and Lori (David); brother Kirby (Mary Lou); and many nieces and nephews.

     The memorial service celebrating Warren’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the Assembly of God Church in Alma Center. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2024, at Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home in Hixton. Visitation will continue at the church Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow the service in West Garden Valley Cemetery. Lunch and a time of gathering, sharing and music will be held at the Garden Valley Town Hall at the intersection of STH 121 and Townhouse Road.
