DOROTHY L. DARWIN

     Dorothy Leone (Delaney) Darwin, 91, of Menomonie and formerly of Black River Falls, passed away Oct. 26, 2024, in her apartment in Menomonie.

     Dorothy was born Sept. 10, 1933, to Leslie and Edna (Weast) Delaney in Beloit. She was the 18th child of 20 children. She married Gerald “Jerry” Darwin on June 21, 1952. Together, they had and raised two children, Nancy Jentz and Allen Darwin.

     Dorothy worked at Barbara Coleman Company in Beloit and at Black River Memorial Hospital as a housekeeper for many years. Dorothy enjoyed reading and crocheting, and motorcycling and snowmobiling during her younger years. She crocheted blankets, baby layettes and Jena’s and Jami’s baptismal outfits. She also crocheted many hats and mittens, which she donated to anyone in need. Those who received the special gifts were blessed. Dorothy was a very hard-working woman and would help in any way that she could.

     Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Raymond) Jentz of Beloit; son Allen (Judy Frank) Darwin of Menomonie; one granddaughter, Tamara (Donald) Jones and one grandson, Kevin (Carrie) Newland, both of Beloit; two granddaughters, Jena Darwin and Jami (Jordan) Langer, both of Menomonie; four great-granddaughters and three great-grandsons of Beloit; two great-grandsons of Menomonie; and four great-great-granddaughters and three great-great-grandsons of Beloit. Dorothy is also survived by many other family and friends.

     Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; her parents, Leslie and Edna; her 19 siblings and their spouses, and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. She was the last remaining child of the 20 Delaney siblings.

     No formal funeral service will be held. A celebration of life will be held at Kyotes Bar in Menomonie Saturday, Nov. 16, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Kyotes Bar was Dorothy’s favorite place to eat breakfast - and maybe gamble a little!

     The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Feigal for the gentle care he provided Dorothy. The family also appreciates the support Dorothy received from her friends at the Memorial Heights Apartments, especially Krista Drury.
