ELVINA DAMBACH

 

     Elvina “Lovey” Dambach, 104, passed away at the Pine View Nursing Home July 4, 2025. Lovey was born in the town of Curran May 23, 1921. 

     The family moved to the village of Hixton when she was four years old. She attended the Hixton schools and graduated with the class of 1939. She was a member of the pep club, prom queen, and senior class president. She received the D.A.R. award. She enjoyed rollerskating and spent a lot of time at the View Rink in Hatfield.

     She worked as a telephone operator for the community telephone company. She worked in a defense plant in Milwaukee during the war years. She calibrated circuit breakers for airplanes. She returned home and worked at Mathew & Ruth hardware store.

     She married Douglas Dambach Nov. 29, 1947. He built their nice home on Pine Street where they raised their four children. She liked to bake bread and all the Norwegian specialties for Christmas, which she shared with her family and friends. She also liked to crochet, knit and do crossword puzzles. 

     In August 1966, she was employed at Dadco Foods. They made the famous “Roma” pizzas. She retired after 17 and a-half years. She volunteered at the Tomah V.A. for 23 years. 

     She was a member of the United Methodist Church, U.M. Women Circle of Hope and the American Legion auxiliary. She was a flag bearer for several years and took part in the Memorial Day services at the Riverside Cemetery. 

     She is survived by daughters, Diane Dambach, Carol (Scott) Van Gorden and Janet (Brian) Dobson; and son Doug Dambach; four grandchildren; nine great-grand-children; sister Verna (Don) Stine; sister-in-law Brenda (Cleland) Wackerbarth; many nieces and nephews; and a special neighbor, Suzanne Amo. 

     She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; six brothers, seven sisters-in-law, one sister, and brother-in-law; one niece and three nephews; and twin brother and sister who died in infancy. 

     A celebration of life will be held for Lovey Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025, at the American Legion Post #200 (421 State Hwy. 54, Black River Falls, WI 54615) from 1 to 4 p.m.
