RENEE ANN TWEED (NOTTESTAD)

RENEE ANN TWEED (NOTTESTAD)

Renee Ann Tweed, 65, of Northfield, WI, passed away peacefully July 18, 2025. She leaves this world with the deep comfort of reunion with her daughter, Angela, whom she missed dearly.

Born July 8, 1960, in Janesville, WI, Renee was the daughter of Lynn and Joan Nottestad. She lived a full and generous life—marked by hard work, honesty and deep love for her family. She found great pride and joy as a U.S. Postal Service mail carrier, where she cherished the relationships she built along her route.

Renee was a devoted wife to David Tweed for nearly 30 years. Together, they shared a strong and loving partnership filled with spontaneous road trips, fishing, live music and quiet evenings on the deck. They also enjoyed spending time at their home away from home at Mallard Resort, where Renee formed close friendships that felt more like family. That place, and those people, brought her endless joy and comfort.

She was the loving mother of Timothy (Mary) Hemmersbach and the late Angela Hemmersbach-Verken. She was a proud stepmother to Kristie Tweed (Steve Osesek), Kelley (Rolando) Briceno and Mike (Lilly) Zoeller. Her grandchildren, Brant Peters, Daimon Verken and Gage, Graham and Griffin Hemmersbach, Robert “BJ” Tweed, Sara and Samantha Osesek, Ryan (Emily) Briceno, Rachel (Thomas) Jerrell, Rebecca Briceno and Jack, Angie and Jacob Zoeller; along with several great-grandchildren, meant the world to her. She made sure that every child felt special and join in during her evening “ice cream at bedtime” tradition.

Renee is survived by her siblings who were also her best friends: Mike (Terri) Nottestad, Jim (Kelly) Nottestad, Gina Anderson and Jolynn (Paul) Morphew. She was affectionately known as “Aunt Nay” to her many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Renee in death are her parents; her brothers, John, Jeff and Craig Nottestad; her daughter, Angela; and great-grandson Axil Verken.

Whether conversing on the deck, hosting holidays or pulling up a chair for a friend in need, Renee had a gift for making people feel welcome. Her warmth, wit and presence will be missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home in Hixton, WI.

Funeral services will take place Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Upper Pigeon Creek Church in Northfield, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. A luncheon will follow.

To honor Renee’s life, her family encourages you to carry her spirit forward—include someone, extend kindness to others and be generous with giving hugs. That’s how she lived, and that’s how she’ll be remembered.
