BARBARA JUNE KIRSCHNER

     Barbara “Barb” June Kirschner, 82, of Chetek, WI, passed away Aug. 1, 2025, at Monroe Manor in Barron, WI. Barb was born Nov. 11, 1942, in Whitewater, WI, to George and Marian (August) Morse.

     Barb graduated from Mauston High School in 1961. She moved to Eau Claire to attend nursing classes at UW-Eau Claire. She married Larry Schaefer in the early 60s and raised their two children, Anthony and Mark. She was employed at several companies in the Eau Claire area during the 60s and 70s. In the late 70s, she became a real estate agent for Midwest Realty, Osseo, WI, She was later employed by Cray Computer, Chippewa Falls

     On Sept. 18, 1982, she was united in marriage to James “Jim” Kirschner. In 1989 Barb and Jim moved to San Diego, CA, and lived there for 21 years. Barb began a second career in purchasing for several companies in San Diego, the last five years as procurement manager for a large medical equipment company in Carlsbad, CA. They lived a year in Austin, TX, and 18 months in Goodyear, AZ. In 2014, they retired to Prairie Lake in Chetek, WI, and have enjoyed living on the water.

     Barb is survived by her loving husband, Jim Kirschner; two sons, Anthony Schaefer and Mark Schaefer; three step-children, Anthony Kirschner, Melissa Kirschner-Scarseth and Kelly Kirschner Sherman and her brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Lynn Morse. 

     She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Marian Morse; brother Larry Morse; and sister Pat Anderson, all of Mauston, WI.

     A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
