WALLACE “WALLY” DON EVERSON

WALLACE “WALLY” DON EVERSON
Wallace “Wally” Don Everson, 87, of Hixton, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, Dec. 1, 2025. Wally relied on his strong faith to guide him throughout his life. His favorite Bible verse was Luke 6:31 - Do to others as you would have them do to you.
Wally was born March 9, 1938, in Tappen Coulee, in Blair, WI, to Elmer and Evelyn (Johnson) Everson. Wally began his career driving school bus, he joked that he ‘went broke’ owning the Blair Phillips 66 service station, he worked swing shift at the Blair Creamery and worked at the Blair Feed Mill before moving in 1962 to Deerfield, WI, where he was the Feed Mill Manager. Ten years later he settled the family in Hixton where he was General Manager of the Farmers Coop Oil Company for 26 years. Wally was a member of Our Saviors Church Council, a Hixton Town Board Supervisor and for many years he grilled chicken for the Hixton Fireman’s 4th of July Celebration.
Wally held a lifelong passion for the farming industry. His career was devoted to agriculture, and conversations with him often circled back to farming. He also enjoyed reminiscing about his years growing up on the farm in Tappen Coulee.
After retirement, Wally and his sidekick, Gloria, proudly embraced their Norwegian heritage by ‘rehydrating’ many pounds of lutefisk. They became experts at making lefse, wine, distilling grains and had a thriving potato distribution business. They eagerly shared their bounty with family and friends. He was recently highlighted in a Minnesota radio station podcast talking about his Norwegian heritage and lutefisk making abilities.
Wally’s deepest love was his family and friends. He enjoyed gathering with the people he cherished. Their dining room table was the favorite place. His quick wit and wonderful sense of humor made him fun to be around. Everyone left with a smile, many laugh and a full stomach. In later years, on most Saturday’s, Wally would join his cronies for breakfast at the cafe. He loved it when his grandkids would join him for ‘shakin dice.’ With great joy he also hosted wedding ceremonies in his pine plantation known as ‘Wallys Woods.’ He entertained the bridal party while showing off his winemaking and distilled grains skills.
He is survived by his children, Kathy (Kim) Patterson, Kari Lynn (Mike) Strong, Kristin (Steve) Pfaff, and Dan (Wendy) Everson; he was a devoted grandfather to Rodney (Arin) Patterson, Angie (Logan) Meacham, Kayla (Sam) Waters, Shaylee Walters, Skylar Everson, Matt Strong, Kate Strong, Casey (Dakota) Pfaff, Larissa (Miller) Gruenewald, Olivia (Sam) Rogstad, Frannie Everson and Sam Everson; great-grandchildren Tucker, Cara, Owen, Oliver, Sierra, Cashton, Isla, Otto, Jasper and Lainey. Wally also leaves behind a multitude of friends, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was joyfully reunited in heaven to his wife of 62 years, Gloria (Tenneson); a son, Randy; his parents, Elmer and Evelyn; five brothers, Earl (Jean), Alfred (Irene), Truman (Elsie), Junior and Jerry; in-laws Basil, Helen, Bob and Lorna Tenneson.
