David Allen Tweed
David Allen Tweed, 84, of Northfield, WI, passed away peacefully Dec. 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a brief battle with cancer.
David was born March 6, 1941, in Whitehall, WI, to Arthur and Nellie (Eide) Tweed. He proudly served his country in the United States Army after enlisting in 1963. During his service, he was stationed in both Korea and Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1966. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Sharpshooter’s Badge.
David married Donna Bankson in 1967, where they raised three children in Galesville, WI. David worked as a UPS driver and was active in the community. He served on the Galesville Volunteer Fire Department, bowled in a league and enjoyed golfing.
David later returned to his family farm in Northfield, a property he had purchased in 1967. He later married the love of his life, Renee Nottestad-Hemmersbach and became a proud stepfather to her children, Angie and Tim. In 2000, David and Renee built a home on the farm, where they shared their lives together for almost 30 years. The farm became his pride and joy and a gathering place for family and friends, where they hosted holidays, celebrations, hayrides and campfires. The farm was awarded Century Farm Status at the Wisconsin State Fair.
A devoted veteran, David was an active member of the VFW and American Legion for many years and was recently honored for 60 years of service to American Legion post 541 in Northfield, WI.
David loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman, hunter and trapper. He was also a loyal Milwaukee Brewers fan. Summers were often spent at Mallard Resort in Chippewa Falls with his close “Mallard family,” many of whom gathered with him shortly before his passing for one final toast.
David is survived by his children Mike (Lillie) Zoeller, Kelley (Rolando) Briceno, Kristie (Steve) Tweed and Timothy (Mary) Hemmersbach; his grandchildren Anjela, Jack, Jacob, Ryan (Emily), Rachael (Tom), Rebecca, Robert, Samantha, Sara, Gage, Graham, Griffin, Brant and Daimon; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
