Julia (Toni) Antoinette Jagielo

Julia (Toni) Antoinette Jagielo

Julia (Toni) Antoinette Jagielo, 75, passed away peacefully in her home May 22, 2026.

She was born to Peter and Julia (Huffaker) Jagielo  Jan. 2, 1951, in Dayton, OH. Toni graduated from high school in Dayton and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in biology and later a master’s degree in biology, both from the University of Dayton. She also attended the University of Kentucky to pursue a doctorate degree before ultimately returning to Dayton.

Toni was employed by CompuNet Clinical Laboratory, where she worked as a cytologist studying cells for cancer. When her mother became ill, Toni chose to take an early retirement and moved to Wisconsin to help care for her mother and later her father when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She was devoted to both of her parents and provided them with loving care throughout their illnesses. After their passing, Toni continued to live on the family farm until it became too much for her to manage. She then moved to Black River Falls this past year.

During her parents’ illnesses, Toni developed a special friendship with her mother’s hospice nurse, Jenette Simonson. After Toni’s parents passed away, she had little family nearby, but through her friendship with Jenette, she became a cherished member of the Iverson family. What began as a friendship grew into a sisterhood, and Toni found comfort, companionship and love among the family who welcomed her as one of their own.

Toni had a lifelong love of books and learning. She believed that one never stops learning and was always eager to expand her knowledge. She often spoke fondly of the extensive collection of books she kept in her Dayton home and enjoyed sharing what she was reading with others. Her curiosity, intelligence, and passion for learning remained with her throughout her life.

Toni was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Julia Jagielo.

She is survived by her sister, Joyce Jagielo; her niece, Julia Jagielo; her nephew, Gregory; her great-nephew; cousins Mary and Bernie; and other relatives in the Pray and Pittsville area.

A service for Julia “Toni” Jagielo will be held Monday, June 22, 2026, at Bridge Church in Black River Falls. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. with the funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Spaulding Cemetery in Pray, WI. A meal and time of fellowship will follow the interment.

Toni will be remembered for her intelligence, compassion, devotion to her family, and her lifelong desire to learn. She touched the lives of many through her kindness, friendship, and quiet strength and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Buswell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
