VIRGINIA IRMA VOLLMER (SUNSHINE) SMITH

Virginia Irma Vollmer (Sunshine) Smith, 90, passed away peacefully in her home June 2, 2026.

She was born to the late Clarence and Evelyn Vollmer, May 31, 1936, in Palmyra, WI. 

Virginia was a school bus driver for the School District of Black River Falls, for 30 years. 

She also drove the Jackson County Minibus and worked as a transport deputy for the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department for many years.

Virginia was predeceased by her husband and soul mate, John Smith, in November 2014. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Carol (Virgil) Davis, Joyce (Bert) Hoover and JoAnne (Gerald) Hoover; brother Butch Vollmer; and son Daniel (Lori) Domenosky.

She is survived by her daughters, Debra (Tom) Green, Susan Garbers, and Mari Beth Domenosky; grandchildren Michelle, Tyler, Michael, Mathew, Danielle, Hannah, LeAnna, Kala, Kyle, Elissa, Larissa and Jerald, along with many nieces and nephews and great-grandchildren. Virginia is also survived by her brother, Bill (Linda) Vollmer.
