ALICE “LOUISE” CARLSON

     Alice “Louise” Carlson passed away Aug. 11, 2023, at the age of 83. She was born in Lee County, AR, to Murry and Pauline (Thompson) Prentice. Louise was a very hardworking woman, from picking cotton at a very young age, and she unloaded many hay wagons later in life. She loved her flowers and always took pride in her lawn and house to make sure everything was neat and tidy.

     After Lousie graduated from Truman High School in Arkansas at the age of 17, she moved to Wisconsin to live with her Uncle Sarge and Aunt Eb, who meant the world to her. Louise worked at the Southern Colony in Union Grove and then started a family. Later on in life she went to CVTC and received a degree in business law. She worked at Regal-Beloit where she retired, working on the farm.

     Louise is survived by her brother, Johnny (Susan) Prentice; three children, Anthony “Tony” (Jolene) Carlson, Beverly Carlson and Judith (Robert) DeJong; 11 grandchildren, Kayela (Joshua) Theama, Kristin Carlson, Bradley (Erica) Carlson, Samuel “Colton” Sweeney, Joshua (Sara) Nelson, Craig (Jenny) Nelson, Victoria Nelson, Laura (Matthew) Trautlein, Elijah (Brittany) DeJong, Rebecca (Michael) Scharpen and Jessica DeJong; 23 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, families and friends.

     Louise is preceded in death by a special friend, storyteller and dispute partner, Norman Theis; her parents Murry and Pauline Prentice; stepmother Molly Prentice; stepbrothers Paul Phillips and Bobby Phillips; uncle Sarge Thompson; and aunt Eb Thompson.

     A special thank you to all of Louise’s neighbors and friends who have been there and helped her through the years. 

     Funeral services for Alice Carlson will be held on Friday, Aug. 18, beginning at noon at the Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home of Hixton, WI. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until the start of services.
