ANN E. SUCHANEK
Ann E. Suchanek, 92, passed away Monday, Oct. 7, 2024, at the Grandview Care Center in Blair.
Ann was born Oct. 12, 1931, to Charles and Bernice Cobb in Montpelier, VT. Ann was united in marriage to Jerry Suchanek June 9, 1956. They resided in numerous cities and states during Jerry’s many years in the Marine Corps before moving to Black River Falls, WI, to make their home.
Ann was a candy striper with the Red Cross in her younger years. She was also a teacher’s aide for the Black River Falls School District in the special education department. One of her proudest moments was receiving the Golden Apple award. Ann was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, volunteering her time and teaching Sunday school and catechism. She was also a member of the prayer chain and known to say the rosary many times for those in need.
Her celebration of 53 years of sobriety last month was one of her greatest achievements. Through the AA program she sponsored many individuals and helped those achieve their own sobriety, opening her home and always taking calls night and day. She volunteered for AA meetings at the local jail and prison and with her AA family at the Bright Spot for the latter part of her life. The family would like to thank the AA family for your never-ending love and support for our mother.
Ann’s greatest joy was her four children, 10 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She loved spending every moment with them, whether it was fishing, baking, or just watching a movie.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; grandson Dylan; her parents; and siblings, Mary Jane Burke and Charles Cobb.
Ann is survived by her children, Jerry (Brenda) Suchanek of Janesville, Mary (Dean) Johnson of Hixton, Norma (Lance) Cottrell of Sparta and Jim (Trisha Wagner) Suchanek of Black River Falls; grandchildren, Adam Demers, Sam Suchanek, Ali Suchanek, Kristine Johnson, Dr. Dalton (Lizzie) Shaw, Kacie (Carlos) Magana, Madison Suchanek, Carter Suchanek, and Anders Wagner-Suchanek; and great-granddaughter, Valentina Isael Magana.
A celebration of Ann’s life was held Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, with a visitation at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church-Guardian Angels Parish in Black River Falls at 1 p.m. followed by a service at 2 p.m. and a lunch immediately after with burial following at Riverside Cemetery.
