BEATRICE JANE (AUSTIN) SPURLING

BEATRICE JANE (AUSTIN) SPURLING
With heartfelt sorrow and deep gratitude for her remarkable life, we announce the passing of Beatrice Jane Spurling, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who left us peacefully May 21, 2025, just shy of her 88th birthday.
Born May 31, 1937, in Madison, WI, to Elmer (Bertha) Spurling, Beatrice, known lovingly as Bea, was a vibrant, outgoing, and sassy soul whose presence lit up every room. Her warmth and welcoming spirit made everyone feel like family. She spent many fulfilling years working in the service industry.
Bea shared her life with her late husband, Charles Spurling, in Alma Center, WI. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and strong family values. She now rejoins Charles in eternal peace, along with their beloved son, Charles Jr. “Sonny” Spurling; daughter Linda Anderson; parents; and her 11 siblings.
Left to honor her memory are her children, Mike (Shelly) Spurling, Penny Sinkiawic, Carl (Ann) Spurling, Duane (Lisa) Spurling, and Melissa Spurling (Sonny); her 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom were the light of her life.
Beatrice lived by the belief that “God helps them who help themselves,” and she embodied that strength and self-reliance in everything she did. Her legacy is one of resilience, compassion, humor, and unconditional love.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find peace in knowing she’s reunited with her loved ones. Bea’s light continues to shine in the lives of those she touched, forever loved, forever missed.
The funeral service for Bea will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home in Hixton. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home Friday, May 30, 2025, and will continue Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. A dinner to celebrate her life will follow the service.
