BEVERLY RESHEL

BEVERLY RESHEL

Beverly Reshel (Bunce), age 98, passed away Friday, Dec. 16, 2022, in City Point. Bev was born on April 1, 1924, in Eau Claire, WI, to LaRoy and Charlotte (Flood) Bunce and grew up in Hatfield before moving to City Point with her husband, Clarence Reshel. They had five children, Sandra (Raymond), Maureen (Gene), Randy (Connie), Kristine (Monte) and Scott.

Beverly was an avid reader throughout her life and enjoyed a good mystery and poetry. She was a fantastic cook and baker and worked at the Little Bear Café in Pittsville for many years. Bev’s signature dish was the sour cream raisin pie. She was a long-term member of the City Point Homemakers Club and worked seasonally at Panter’s Cranberry Marsh. Bev enjoyed playing cards, especially sheepshead and loved solving crosswords and other puzzles. She was a formidable Scrabble player. Blessed with Irish luck, Bev frequently hit the jackpot on slot machines and other games of chance. She loved watching Packer games and had a tearaway doll that she could dismember and throw at the TV during tough games. Bev painted dozens of ceramic figures and especially enjoyed painting detailed Santa Clauses. Her home was often filled with music when Bev sang old Irish songs or played classic country. She loved roller skating and brought her kids back to Hatfield to teach them how to skate. She hunted and fished and sometimes brought in the big buck before her husband. Bev graced many along her path with her fiery spirit and sly wit. Like the apple trees she’d climb and tulips she tended, Bev was a wonderful mix of strength and beauty. She will be dearly missed by those that have known and loved her.

Beverly is survived by two children, Maureen Swenson and Kristine Pralle; six grandchildren, Denise Johnson (Roger), Dennis Reinhart, Lucas Pralle (Carolyn), Logan Reshel (Dezeray), Kaila Pralle-Burr (Christopher) and Taylor Pralle; and five great-great-grandchildren, Hannah, Austin, Jensen, Sawyer and Luna.

Beverly was predeceased by her husband, Clarence; her children Sandra, Randy and Scott; a brother, LeRoy (Geraldine) Bunce, Jr.; and a sister, Gwendolyn (Fritz) Kluhsman.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, at Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home, Pittsville, where the visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time. Rev. Fred Parker, Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow in City Point Cemetery.
