CARLTON ROBERT CHRISTIANSON

     Carlton Robert Christianson, 75, of Wanamingo, MN, died peacefully, surrounded by his family Tuesday Jan. 10, at the Benedictine Care Center in Red Wing, MN. Carlton was born April 5, 1947 in Black River Falls, WI, to Victor and Margaret (Johnson) Christianson. Carlton attended elementary school in Black River Falls before his family moved to rural Taylor, WI, where he grew up on a farm. He graduated from Taylor High School in 1965. Carlton was a decorated combat veteran, serving with the 1st Armored Division in Vietnam from 1967-1968. Carlton married Irene Aubart Dec. 28, 1974, and they settled in rural Taylor. Carlton worked many years in maintenance at both Family Heritage and Pine View Care Center nursing homes in Black River Falls, as well as Black River Falls Memorial Hospital.

     He and his family loved camping at various state parks throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota most every weekend of the summer. He also took his family on numerous camping road trips, with some of the most memorable being to the Rocky Mountains, New Orleans, Florida, Canada and a month-long round trip to Alaska. Aside from traveling, he took great pride in his home and yard and could usually be found outside tinkering in the garage or in the yard. Carlton was the ultimate handyman; he had the ability to fix or build almost anything, whether it involved construction, cars or furniture, you name it. Above all, Carlton was a loving husband, father, brother, son and friend to many who will be missed dearly.

     Carlton is survived by his wife, Irene; son Bernt (wife Jodi); daughter Carin (husband Chris) Moe; grandchildren Mia and Cade Christianson and Cohen and Parker Moe; brother Rolf (Gayla) Christianson; as well as nieces Vikki (Graham) Christianson and April (Thompson) Christianson.

     Carlton was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Margaret Christianson, brother Larry Christianson, sister Mary Christianson and nephew Bruce Christianson.
