DANNY “DAN” WINSON

 

     Danny “Dan” Winson, 65, of Alma Cneter, WI, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, Oct. 14, while surrounding by his family. He was born Oc.t 16, 1959, at Black River Hospital to Claude and Violet (Cooper) Winson.

     Dan was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Alma Center, WI. He went on to have various jobs throughout his life, which included shearing Christmas trees, logging pulp and cutting firewood. At age 55, he retired after working for 35 years as a backhoe operator for Operating Engineers Local 139.

     Dan married his wife, Doreen (Myers) Winson April 25, 1981, and spent 44 wonderful years together. He was an avid deer hunter and made many memories pheasant hunting with his beloved bird do, Belle. Dan enjoyed fishing in the summer with his friends, wife and grandchildren. When he was home, you could find him watching Westerns or rooting for all the Wisconsin sports teams.

     Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Violet (Cooper) Winson; brother-in-law and sister Chuck and Gloria (Winson) Rupnow; brother and sister-in-law Chris and Myrna (Peterson) Winson; and brother-in-law Jim Heath. 

     He is survived by his wife, Doreen (Myers) Winson; daughter Rebbecca (Mark Thompson); grandchildren Levi and Carter Meincke and Chevelle and Colten Thompson; sister Kathie Heath; brothers-in-law Michael (Lynn) Myers, Greg (Diane) Myers and Gary (Mary) Myers; sisters-in-law Teri (Dan) Collum and Julie (David) Payne; and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.

     A celebration of life will be planned for Dan in the spring of 2026.
