DAVID HAYDEN

     David Lee Hayden, 76, passed away Feb. 9, 2023, at Pine Grove Healthcare Center in Geneva, OH, under the care of hospice. 

     Dave was born Jan.16, 1947, in Neillsville, WI, to Louis and Ione (Hauge) Hayden. He was raised in Merrillan, WI, and attended Lincoln High School in Alma Center, WI. He participated in many sports at Lincoln and was inducted into the Lincoln Athletic Hall of Fame in 2018. After graduating in 1965, he lived briefly in Chicago before settling in Merrillan, where he worked for his dad at Hayden’s IGA, eventually taking ownership of the store.

     Dave was an active part of his community, including being a member of the Merrillan Volunteer Fire Department, the Alma Center-Humbird-Merrillan School Board, the Merrillan Masonic Lodge and the Eau Claire Consistory. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family and many friends. 

     In 1989, Dave and his family moved to Deerfield, WI, and he later settled in Lodi, WI. He continued to work in the grocery business until he retired. In 2019, he moved to Ohio to be closer to his daughter, Julie. 

     Dave is survived by his former wife, Mickey (Rosenberg) Biedermann of Madison, WI, and their children, Barb (Brian) Marquardt of Seattle, WA, Julie (Myron) Craig of Jefferson, OH, and Bill Hayden of Winchester, VA; and grandchildren Madelyn, Erik, Alex, Izaiah, Piper, Blake, Nicholas and Ryan; and longtime partner, Sue Denson. He is further survived by his brother, Tom (Linda) Hayden, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. 

     Dave was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Charles. 

     A memorial service will be determined at a future date.
