DEAN WILKEN

 

     Dean John Wilken, 80, of Black River Falls, WI, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Black River Memorial Hospital in Black River Falls, WI. He was born Sept. 14, 1941, in Champaign, IL, to John and Anna Peters.

     Dean enlisted in the United States Navy March 2, 1960, and honorably served until his discharge in 1964. Dean married Sherry Bell Nov. 11, 1972, in Carson City, NV, and together they raised two children. Following his discharge, Dean worked as a sheriff deputy, contractor and boiler operator until his retirement.

     In his later years, Dean enjoyed spending his time at the cabin in Hatfield where he would fish, hunt and go 4-wheeling. Dean also spent much time rough-housing with his grandchildren.

     Dean is survived by his wife, Sherry; his children Mark (Kristina) Wilken and Deanne (Donnie) Winter; his siblings, Donald (Shirley) Wilken, Dennis Wilken, Bernice Kirsch and Betty Judd.

     He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna Wilken; his granddaughter, Kaylinn; and his brothers-in-law, Dick Kirsch and Cliff Judd.

     The family would like to extend a special thanks to Gunder Gilbertson, Ruth and Dr. Howie Spegman, Jean Anderson and friends and family.

     Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2022, at Parkview Church, 115 N 14th St., Black River Falls, with Pastor Brule Buselmeier officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service.
