DENNIS WILLIAM OLSON

DENNIS WILLIAM OLSON

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dennis William Olson, 66, who left us May 29, 2025, in Hatfield, WI.

Dennis was a man of many talents. Whether it was painting a house, garage or fence or even fixing anything with his hands, there was little he couldn’t do. A trip to Walmart with Dennis could easily become a two-hour adventure filled with stories, laughter and friendly conversation with everyone he met. He never called anybody a stranger; he saw everybody as a friend which made his ability to connect with people something truly special.

Above all, Dennis was a deeply kind and selfless man. He always put the needs of his family first, often setting aside his own wants or needs to make sure those he loved were taken care of. He was a devoted husband and loving father.

Dennis had a love, no, a passion for coin collecting, which anybody could see brought him immense joy. If you had loose change rattling in your pocket, he would ask for every last penny just so he could sort through them. Dennis had a lifelong love of fishing and in the summer could almost always be found near the water. He knew all the best spots—but in true fisherman’s fashion, he kept their locations a closely guarded secret, never one to give away where the fish were biting. What may have seemed small to others meant the world to him, and in that way, Dennis taught those around him to find beauty and meaning in life’s little details.

He will be remembered for his warm heart, tireless spirit and the love he poured into every conversation, gesture and moment. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.

Dennis is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Yvonne Baetzel; his son, Ronald (Ashley) Olson; stepson John (Malay) Minarcik; daughter Brittany (Dewey) Olson; and his beloved grandchildren, Nathan, Simon, Samuel, Leo and Lillian. He is further survived by his brother Dean; his sisters Darlene and Denise; and his great and close friend Brian, who was always willing to lend a helping hand.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Lillian (Pickett) Olson; his brothers Robert and Ronald Olson; and his sister Marlene.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date, just as Dennis would have wanted—gathered around a fire, sharing stories, laughter and fond memories.
