DIANE DEMASKE
Diane Demaske, 73, of Black River Falls, WI, passed away Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, WI, with her loved ones at her side. She was born March 7, 1950, in Black River Falls, WI, to Elmer and Nettie (Johnson) Rochester. She was raised in the Black River Falls and Shamrock area. Diane attended Black River Falls High School. She was united in marriage to Arnold Demaske Sept. 30, 1967, at the United Methodist Church, Black River Falls, WI.
Diane cared for all God’s creatures, raising countless orphaned animals, birds and pets. She was especially fond of her late dog, Bear; her dog, PJ; and her cat, Peanut. Diane also enjoyed gardening and maintained a beautiful backyard with many varieties of flowers, trees and other plants. She was a talented artist and crafter. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, shopping with her sisters and sharing coffee and sweets with neighbors, friends and family when they stopped by for a visit.
She is survived by her sons, Jeff Demaske of Melrose, WI, and Joe Demaske of Hixton, WI; grandchildren Jeremiah, Jordan, Jessica, Joshua, Rochelle and Josie; eight great-grandchildren; sisters Louise Schlintz of Melrose, WI, and Lavern Blazek of Alma Center, WI; sister-in-law Luanne Rochester of Black River Falls, WI; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; son John; parents Elmer and Nettie; brothers Don, Robert and Louis Rochester; sisters Mabel Lambert, Loretta Stetzer, Beverly Rochester and Geraldine “Gerry” Gilbertson.
A private visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, with service at 1 p.m. at the Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Jackson County Humane Association in honor of Diane’s love and compassion for her pets and all creatures great and small.
