ELDON L. “RED” BROWN
Eldon L. “Red” Brown, 89, of Tomah, WI, passed away May 2, 2025, at the Tomah VA Hospital. He was born Oct. 28, 1935, in Richland County, WI, to William Edward and Eva (Teeters) Brown. His life was marked by his unwavering integrity, strong work ethic and deep commitment to his family and faith.
Red proudly served his country in the United States Army at Carlisle Barracks, PA, from 1955 to 1957, where he gained skills and experiences that would shape his future endeavors. He was united in marriage to Kaytherine Bigelow June 27, 1959. Together they raised their five children in the Tomah, Richland Center and Black River Falls communities.
In his professional life, Red was known as a hard worker with a keen business sense. He successfully managed several grocery stores, including Mega Foods and Burnstad’s, where he was not only a manager but also a mentor and friend to many of his employees. His dedication to his work was matched only by his commitment to his community.
Red’s involvement with various associations, such as Rotary and Lions Club, demonstrated his belief in service above self. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and took great pride in working toward the betterment of his community. As an elder and deacon on the church board, he provided spiritual leadership and support, touching the lives of many with his faith-filled presence.
Traveling with his wife and family was one of Red’s greatest joys. He cherished the opportunity to explore new places and create lasting memories with his loved ones. Red also found solace and satisfaction in his woodworking shop, where he crafted beautiful pieces that will be treasured by his family for generations to come.
He is survived by his wife, Kaytherine; his children, Alan (Teresa) Brown, Debbie (Scott) Hardy, Cheryl (Brian) Flick, Doug Brown and Bonnie (Spencer Sr.) Baldwin; 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Geneva Switz; and brother Robert (Karen) Brown; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Eva; brothers Frank and Edward Brown; and an infant brother.
Funeral services with full military honors will be held Saturday, May 17, 2025, 11 at a.m. at the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Tomah. Pastor Bryan Johnson will officiate. Family and friends are invited for visitation Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church. A private family burial will be held at the Wood Cemetery, Tomah, WI.
