GARY ALLEN KNUTSON

     Gary Allen Knutson, 76, of Taylor, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and grandpa, drew his last breath June 26, 2023, after a long battle with multiple health issues.

     He was born to the Orville and Lorna (Lockington) Knutson in Holmen, WI. When he was about five years old, the family moved to Vosse Coulee, where they bought an old tobacco farm, turning it into a dairy farm. The family then grew to include his sister, Paula Knutson. 

     Along with farming, Gary and Orville ventured into developing a piece of property in Taylor into what is now the Knutson Trailer Court. He continued with this passion and continued to expand his rental properties, which he managed throughout his life. 

     Expanding on his talents, Gary decided to buy a garage in Taylor and started up Knutson’s Auto Body Shop.  This developed into car sales, mechanics shop and topper sales. 

     Gary then met the love of his life, Shirley Kammerer. They were married at the Trempealeau Valley Lutheran Church Aug. 7, 1976. Gary dove right into being a parent to a four-year-old daughter, Tami. This family grew by two sons, Joseph and Joshua. 

     Throughout his life, Gary enjoyed many activities. He was one of the original founders of the Taylor Lions Club and supported his community in multiple ways. Gary enjoyed sponsoring and playing men’s softball, traveling, cruising, gambling, fishing, snowmobiling and most of all, spending time with his family. He especially liked a good game of cards with friends and family and was known to have a devilish way of always winning with a smirk on his face.

     Gary was preceded in death by his parents.

     Gary is survived by his wife, Shirley; his sister, Paula Knutson (Mike Johnson); three children, Tami (Jason Waldera), Joe (Sarah) and Josh; and nine grandchildren, Sarah, Andrew, Suzannah, Erin, Lauren, Kassidy, Hannah, Bryce and Brenna.

     There was a memorial visitation at the Jack Funeral Home in Blair Thursday, June 29, 2023, from 1 to 4 p.m. This was followed by a Celebration of Life at Maynard’s on Main in Taylor, with food, cheers, laughter and the sharing of many memories following.
