HELEN R. (CORKY) OLSEN

HELEN R. (CORKY) OLSEN

Helen R. (Corky) Olsen of East Troy was called home by her Lord and Savior July 17, 2024 at the age of 83. Helen was born Oct. 12, 1940, in Black River Falls, WI. She is the daughter of the late Raymond and Frieda (nee Gutknecht) Stamm and is survived by a sister, Arlene (Ed) Housley of South Wales, NY; and Orville, her husband of 60 years.

Helen married Orville Olsen Aug. 10, 1963, in Alma Center, WI. She is the loving mother of Rick (Amy) Olsen and Michael (Michele) Olsen; proud grandmother of Myles, Mikelyn, Andrea and Ryan; and great-grandmother of Caden and Sofia. Family was everything to Helen.

She was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in East Troy since 1972. She taught elementary school and was a preschool teacher for many years. She looked forward to coming to Olsen Safety every Friday to help with weekly cleaning duties. We all looked forward to Friday as well, because we knew she would bring treats for the entire office and warehouse.

Helen loved her home and her yard. Flowers and her garden were her passion She could never have enough flowers. Helen was an avid gardener who enjoyed sharing vegetables and flowers with her family, friends and neighbors. Her canned peaches were the best.

Helen was also into sports, especially her grandchildren’s. She never missed a basketball, football, volleyball or baseball game.

Helen was an accomplished seamstress who could make clothes and kids costumes and could stitch up anything that needed fixing.

Helen had a unique trait where she could find good qualities in everyone she came in contact with. She touched all of our lives and everyone she met, in her own unique way.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Aug. 3, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (1936 Emery St. East Troy), beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 12 p.m. There will be a private burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
