JANE KAY PETERSON

     Jane Kay Peterson, 79, of Melrose passed away Dec. 21, 2022, in La Crosse, WI.

     Jane was born Oct. 12, 1943, to parents Horace Abner Piper and Florence McCullough. Jane graduated from Sparta High School in 1961 and went to work for the Union National Bank of Sparta for 49 1/2 years. On Oct. 5, 1963, she was married to Duane Peterson of Melrose, WI, with whom she spent the rest of her life until his passing. Jane enjoyed her homelife, especially taking pride in her home and yard. She loved being a supportive wife, and in retirement, she dedicated herself to taking care of Duane through his health issues. Although deathly afraid of horses, she enjoyed going to the horse shows and watching the family ride. She also loved a cup of coffee and $2 scratch tickets while watching Wheel of Fortune.

     Jane is survived by her sons Paul Peterson and Mark (Colleen) Peterson; brother Wayne Piper; grandchildren Nathan, Logan, Lindsey and Laura Peterson; and many nieces and nephews.

     She is preceded in death by her husband Duane; her parents; brothers Horace Jr., who passed in infancy, Norman Piper, Marlan (Merle) Piper and Henry (Dolly) Piper; sisters Verene (Richard) Milton and Shirley (Don) Knudson; and niece Deanna Peterson.

     A funeral service for Jane will held at a later date in the spring at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Melrose, WI.
