JANICE JESSOP

Janice Marie Jessop, 83, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022, at Black River Memorial Hospital in Black River Falls, WI.
She was born Feb. 18, 1939, in Black River Falls to George and Cepha (Woodford) Dickie. She married John “Jack” Jessop Nov. 22, 1958, in Waukon, IA.
Janice attended and graduated from Black River Falls High School in 1957. She was a housewife during their marriage but had side jobs where she worked at Carol’s Club 27, Carol’s Prairie Schooner and at the antique center in Black River Falls. She later started a small business of “Jan’s Junque.” She had a love for antiques - especially Indian artifacts and GEO’d stones and fossils. She also loved her county music and folk music. She self-taught herself to play guitar, auto harp and piano. She was a woman of being frank and sassy.
Janice is survived by her son, John (Shelly) Jessop; grandson Justin Jessop; granddaughter Jenna (Joe) Peterson; and great-granddaughter Kenzie Peterson, her newest pride and joy. She is further survived by her best buddy, Curt “Curtis” Gilbertson; brother Dennis (Joy “Snookie”) Dickie; sister-in- law Jeannie Mosely; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; mother- and father-in- law; husband Jack; sister Shirley (Marvin) Elias; brother George Dickie; and brothers-in-law, Duane Mosely and Tom (Opal) Jessop.
The family would like to thank the Black River Falls EMS and Black River Memorial Hospital staff for their exceptional care and kindness.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022, at First and Last Chance Tavern from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Black River Falls Fire Department.
