JEFFREY “COONĮ NAZI” GOODBEAR
Jeffrey Dean “Coonį nazi” Goodbear, 68, passed away at his home in the Township of Brockway Sept. 23, 2022. He was born March 24, 1954, to Herbert and Exilda (Waukon) Goodbear.
Following high school, Jeff served as a soldier in the United States Marine Corps. An outdoor enthusiast, he enjoyed fishing and hunting for deer and coon. He was also an avid Packers fan and enjoyed gambling at the casino.
Jeff was a friend to all and always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He was also sure to have a story and joke to share. He was a consummate woodsman and a mentor to many young tribal members.
Jeff is survived by his children; Jamie (Sara) Goodbear, Sampson (Shandiina) Funmaker, Joshua (Amanda) Goodbear, Michael (Heidi) Miles, Naomi Goodbear, Sequoia (Greg) Garvin and Sarina (Gabriel) Falcon; his siblings, Bill (Carlatta) Goodbear, Mike (Susan) Goodbear and Roberta Goodbear; his special nephews, Isiah Funmaker, John Holst Jr., Patrick (Dana) Houghton and Forrest (Rosalind) Funmaker; special grandson Damon Scott; and many other grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cleo Goodbear; son Robert Goodbear; and his siblings, Dorothy Goodbear, John Goodbear, Greg Goodbear, Dan Goodbear and Georgia Goodbear.
Services for Jeffrey were held at 12 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, 2022 at the Goodbear homestead with Daniel “Wąka ja xete” Youngthunder officiating. Friends and family were invited for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial followed at the Goodbear Cemetery off Cottonville Road in Adams County, Wisconsin.
