KAREN BURNETT

     Karen M. Burnett, 83, of Hixton, WI, passed away Sept. 5, 2022, at the Mulder Health Care Facility of West Salem, WI.

     She was born July 4, 1939, in Alma Center, WI, to Glen and Ledra (Craig) Casper.

     On March 28, 1959, Karen married Kenneth Burnett in Hixton, WI, and together raised two sons. In 2010, she moved to Black River Falls, WI. 

     She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mother and taking care of her husband and kids for most of her life. Karen did work outside the home as a beautician, home health careworker, historical society worker/volunteer, babysitting for the local neighbors and had many sewing/patching jobs in her younger years. She had many hobbies - gardening, planting flowers, reading, crossword puzzles, showing chickens to flowers at the county fair, sewing, quilting, baking, taking rides in the countryside and spending time with family and friends.

     Karen is survived by her two sons, Raymond Burnett of Hixton, WI, and Randy (Amy) Burnett of Hixton, WI; Brother Calvin (Sharon) Olson of Black River Falls, WI; grandchildren Chris (Pauline) Burnett of Taylor, WI, Elizabeth (Kevin) Hovey of Whitehall, WI, and James (Diana) Burnett of Black River Falls, WI; eight great-grandchildren; Louis, Anelica, Pheobe, Shealynn, Emily, Rachael, Soren and Augustus; and many nieces and nephews.

     Karen is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; parents Glen Casper and Ledra Olson; stepfather Maynard Olson; daughter-in-law Margaret Burnett; and brothers Francis (Shirley) Casper and Verland Casper.

     A graveside service will be held at Trinity Rest Cemetery, S. Hoffman St. Hixton, WI 54635 Friday, Sept. 23, 2022, at 11 a.m.

     A celebration of life will follow at the Garden Valley Town Hall, W13760 WI-121, Alma Center, WI 54611 until 5 p.m.
