LAVERNE ARTHUR MOLDENHAUER

LAVERNE ARTHUR MOLDENHAUER

LaVerne Arthur Moldenhauer, 96, of Black River Falls, went to be with the Lord Feb. 27, 2025, at Pineview Terrace in Black River Falls.

LaVerne was born July 4, 1928, in Black River Falls, to Arthur and Esther (Gates) Moldenhauer. He grew up on the family farm. He married Dorothy Stoddard Dec. 30, 1952. They purchased a beautiful farm on Allen Creek Road and continued to work on the farm for 38 years. During this time, he did professional painting as well as played guitar for a country band. After selling the farm and moving to town, he started working for the School District of Black River Falls, where he was beloved and admired by teachers and students alike. He worked for the school for 13 years until his retirement.

He was an accomplished musician and singer; he learned to play guitar at the age of 12. He continued to bring the joy of music to people in nursing homes in the community for 30 years, playing guitar and harmonica. LaVerne and Dorothy enjoyed traveling to many places across the country. Amongst those travels, he was asked to join a permanent residency band in Branson, MO. He declined, feeling that family back home was more important.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Bessie Moldenhauer and Leonard and Esther Hulett; siblings Richard and Bernice Moldenhauer, Dorothy and Harold Iverson, Duane and Robert Moldenhauer.

LaVerne’s memory will be held in the hearts of his wife of 72 years, Dorothy Moldenhauer; children Candia (Dennis) Carlson, Patrick Moldenhauer, Sandy Moldenhauer, Cynthia (Larry Hanson) Moldenhauer and Kevin Moldenhauer; granddaughters Amy (Jason) Sikorski, Dawn Schmidt, Amber Wirsing and Briana Moldenhauer; eight great-grandchildren; brother Melvin (Barb) Moldenhauer; sisters-in-law Rose and Joyce, along with special family friend Betsy Huber.

The funeral mass for LaVerne was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Guardian Angels St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Black River Falls, WI. A visitation was held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of mass. Burial followed the mass in Riverside Cemetery.
