LAVON C. BUDNOWSKI
Lavon C. Budnowski, a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully in Blair, WI, Nov. 15, 2023, just five days shy of her 80th birthday.
She was born Nov. 20, 1943, to Emil and Bernice (Bjelland) Nordhus in Galesville, WI. Lavon was a graduate of Milwaukee Lutheran High School and briefly attended Concordia College. After school, she began working as a realtor exam certifier and proctor for the state of Wisconsin. Lavon was also an office administrator for the physical therapy department at Columbia Hospital in Milwaukee and later worked in retail at the Flying J gift shop in Black River Falls, where she maintained her social life; after moving to Hatfield to fulfill her lifelong dream of living there with her beloved husband, Ronny.
Beyond her professional life, Lavon was a woman of many interests and talents. She did synchronized swimming in high school, and she enjoyed dancing with her husband, Ron. Her grace extended to the rink, where she was an accomplished roller skater and ice skater. She was also a lover of all God’s creatures, and especially dogs.
Lavon was the cherished wife of Ron Budnowski, to whom she was married for an incredible 58 years. Together, they raised a son, Scott Budnowski, and shared many wonderful years together. Lavon was also a doting grandmother to four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who were the joy of her life. Her grandchildren will always remember the ice cream and red cakes she made for them on their birthdays.
Lavon is preceded in death by her brother, Paul Aaron Nordhus, and her beloved parents, Emil and Bernice.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Ron Budnowski; son Scott Budnowski; grandchildren Amy Budnowski, Steven Budnowski, Joseph Budnowski and Paul Budnowski; and three great-grandchildren (Stella, Evy and Belle).
A visitation and memorial service will be held at Torgerson’s Funeral Home in Black River Falls, WI, Saturday, Nov. 25. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. to be followed by a memorial service at 12 p.m.
