LINETTE LOU (ROWIN) MARTINSEN
Linette Lou (Rowin) Martinsen passed away peacefully Dec. 18, 2023, at Meadowbrook in Black River Falls, Wisconsin, at the age of 85.
Linette was born Dec. 2, 1938, to Naman and May (Everson) Rowin in Elroy, WI, where she grew up with her four sisters, Veda, Wynona, Hazel and Myrna; and brother LaDue.
On June 7 of 1957, Linette married the love of her life, Erling Martinsen, and together they raised two children, Scott and Kathleen, and spent 66 wonderful years creating memories and traveling the world.
Linette led a fulfilling life traveling wherever Erling’s Air Force career led them, living in places such as Tai Pae, Taiwan, England, Turkey and Norway. She dedicated many years as a secretary, primarily on Air Force bases. When not working as a secretary, Linette was a devoted homemaker. Outside of her career and family, Linette found joy in her hobbies, especially deer hunting. Although she didn’t start hunting until her 40s, she was a skilled hunter. Linette was a phenomenal cook, whether in her own kitchen, at the family cabin or cooking over a fire, she never failed to create delicious meals for her family.
Always a nature lover, Linette appreciated the beauty in wild animals, especially wolves and eagles. If you were to visit her and Erling’s home, you would see many eagle and wolf statues, figurines, blankets and other mementos.
Linette leaves behind her beloved husband, Erling Martinsen; her two children, Scott (Lynn) Martinsen and Kathleen Holler; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Veda Harwood, Wynona Haney, Hazel Schroeder and Myrna West; and brother LaDue Rowin
A memorial service to celebrate Linette’s life was held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Black River Falls, WI, Friday, Dec. 22. Visitation began at 9 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 10 a.m. The ceremony was conducted by Elder Jim Paulley
Linette Lou Martinsen will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched. May her adventurous spirit, kindness and love continue to inspire us all.
