LISA MARIE WOOF
Lisa Marie Woof, 58, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at her home in Black River Falls, WI. She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis for the second time in 2021, with the first diagnosis being 20 years prior.
Lisa was born July 24, 1965, to Gene and Mary (Brauner) Maurer. She grew up with her brother, Mark, and shared many fond childhood memories together. She graduated from Black River Falls High School in 1983 and married Philip Woof in 1985. They had two children, Ben and Jessica.
Lisa admired her grandfather, Joseph Brauner Sr., and treasured her memories with him. She loved listening to him play his accordian and enjoyed playing her violin with him as well. Her grandmother, Doris Brauner, also held a special place in her heart. Lisa enjoyed sharing her intricate doilies and other crochet projects with her and in turn seeing Doris’s beautiful hand-stitched quilts and crocheted blankets. Uncle Charlie could always make her laugh with his jovial personality and she shared many memories with her aunts, uncles and cousins, with stories that will never be forgotten. In her younger years, Lisa was also a talented square-dancer, and she could be found twirling in fancy dresses with the biggest smile!
Lisa loved to garden, spend time outdoors and take in the beauty of nature. If you saw her in the summertime, she could easily have dirt covering her knees and even under her fingernails, because that’s just the proper way to garden! She enjoyed collecting rocks and shells everywhere she went. But the rocks had to pass the “dry test.” If they weren’t still pretty after drying out from the beach or creek, then they would get thrown back. In the winter, Lisa could be found excitedly looking up new birds that came to the feeder in her bird book or falling asleep crocheting. She would spend hours on the phone talking with her mom sharing their daily lives and enjoying each other's company.
Lisa loved being a mother and homemaker herself, always sharing joy in her children's successes. She never missed an opportunity to care for other babies also - her eyes lighting up just watching them giggle and play. When she first became a grandmother, you could see how much she enjoyed her new status and she was known to always have homemade cookies and treats prepared. Lisa felt honored to have been included in witnessing two of her grandchildren’s births at Footprints in Time Midwifery, memories her daughter will always cherish.
Lisa was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Joseph and Doris Brauner; her uncle, Joseph Brauner Jr; as well as her sister-in-law, Valerie Maurer.
She is survived by her husband, her parents, Gene and Mary Maurer; her brother, Mark (Jehardeth) Maurer; her niece, Jillian Maurer; her aunts and uncles, Charles (Carrie) Brauner, James (Michelle) Brauner, and Catherine Brauner; many cousins; her children, Ben Woof, Jessica (Trevor) Green; her granchildren, Delilah, Brayden, Leland and Isabel Green; her friend, Debbie Scholze, and many other friends and extended family.
Lisa was loved by anyone who had the privilege of meeting her, and she was cherished dearly by her parents.
A celebration of life will be planned to honor Lisa at a later date.
