LOIS “BON” M. GOLDSMITH

     Lois “Bon” M. Goldsmith, 85, passed away at her home Tuesday morning, Nov. 19, 2024. She was born April 7, 1939, in Janesville, WI, to Frank W. and Emily L. (Volkmann) Bienash. She was a student at Janesville High School with the class of 1958. She married her husband, Allen H. Goldsmith, June 25, 1973. Lois spent 20 years working as an inspector at Norwood Mills, until the company closed its doors. Afterwards, she went on to work in the environmental services department at Mercy Hospital in Janesville, where she retired from in 2008. 

     Lois was a strong, hard-working and self-reliant woman with a great sense of humor and a look that could stop you in your tracks if you were misbehaving. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren, go camping in Black River Falls, play card games and dice, watch old movies, read biographies and listen to the Bee Gees and old country music. She also really loved dancing and had taken lessons as a child. Growing up, she attended school at St. Paul Lutheran School and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. 

     Lois is survived by her children, Susan Matson of Janesville, Ken (Vicky) Wright of Janesville, Tammy (Shawn) Gerke of Whitewater and Allen K. (Patty) Goldsmith of Fort Atkinson; her four grandchildren, Joshua (Nicole) LaBelle, Emily (Ernesto) Magana, David (Lizzie) Matson and Kyle (Kirstin Millar) Wright; 13 great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Judy Goldsmith and the Black River Falls gang.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Allen Nov. 11, 2011; her beloved cat, Cheyenne; and aunts, uncles and cousins. 

     A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2024, at the Apfel Wolfe Funeral Home, 21 S. Austin Rd. Janesville, with Pastor Daniel Decker. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery, Janesville. Visitation took place Monday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the Apfel Wolfe Funeral Home.
