Marilyn A. (Anderson) McKeeth

 

Marilyn A. (Anderson) McKeeth, 93, of Black River Falls, died July 19, 2026, at Meadowbrook in Black River Falls (BRF), under the care of St. Croix Hospice.

Marilyn was born May 23, 1933, in Galesville, WI. She graduated from Galesville High School in 1951 and received a diploma from Miss Wood’s Kindergarten-Primary Training School at Macalester College in 1953. She taught kindergarten in West Salem, River Falls, Neillsville and Black River Falls.

Marilyn married the love of her life, Dan McKeeth,  Dec. 28, 1956. They were married for 53 years. Marilyn served as choir director at the BRF United Methodist Church (UMC) for over 30 years. She was a founding member of the Wednesday morning prayer group at BRF UMC and was active in the United Methodist Women on both local and state levels. She provided monthly special music at both local nursing homes and directed the Jackson County HCE Chorus, the “Extension Chords.” Marilyn volunteered for JC Interfaith Caregivers and was a member of the Black River Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, serving on the Love Lights Committee. She played the organ for many funerals at Buswell Funeral Home. For many years, she sang in a vocal trio with her friends Lydia Lunda and Jo Manuel.

She was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Packers, Badgers and Brewers. She and Dan were recognized for their loyal support of the BRF Tigers girls’ and boys’ sports teams; they were familiar faces at home and away games for decades. Marilyn and Dan also enjoyed traveling throughout Wisconsin and the USA with friends and family. Door County was Marilyn’s favorite destination.

Survivors include a daughter, Mari McKeeth, Urbana, IL (Heidi Weatherford); special friends Chuck and Ruth Buswell and family; many cousins; and other relatives and friends.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Dan; her parents, Alf and Julia Anderson; and her in-laws, Miles and Polly McKeeth.

Marilyn shared her smile, heart, humor, generosity and her musical gifts with her family and community. She is loved and missed by many.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2026, at the BRF United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to either BRF UMC, JC Interfaith Caregivers, or the BRF Public Library.

Marilyn’s family would like to thank the staffs of Meadowbrook at BRF and St. Croix Hospice for the kindness and excellent care they provided over the years.
