MARY J. STROMNES

     On June 3, 2024, Mary J. Stromnes passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, at the age of 91.

     Mary was born to Reuben and Ora (Sanford) Hulett Oct. 17, 1932, in Hixton, WI, where she grew up and later graduated from Hixton High School in 1950. 

     After high school, Mary worked a variety of jobs while raising her three children until she met Richard Stromnes, the love of her life. Mary and Richard were then blessed with two more children.

     Throughout her career as a home health aide, Mary touched countless lives with her kindness and dedication, serving communities in Wisconsin and Arizona with unwavering compassion.

     Outside of work, Mary was very active in her church community. Additionally, her creative spirit shone brightly through her remarkable talents in artistry. Whether she was sketching, engrossed in poetry or dancing, Mary found joy in expressing herself and sharing her passions with those around her.

     She is survived by her brother, George Hulett; her daughters, Diane Harmer, Darci (Tom) Huth and Denise Stahl; and her son, Lance Stromnes. Mary’s memory will also be cherished by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

     She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Stromnes; parents Rueben and Ora; her twin brothers, Leslie and Lester Hulet;, her sister, Alice Frankie; and her son, Les Bowen.

     A celebration of Mary’s extraordinary life will be held at a later date.
