MERLIN “MERT” MCWILLIAMS
Merlin “Mert” McWilliams died at home June 16, 2025, at the age of 90.
Merlin was born at home in May Coulee, rural Hixton, to James and Julia (Thomley) McWilliams Nov. 6, 1934. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith, a faith he would carry throughout his life. In 1953, Mert graduated from Hixton High School.

Survivors include Jean Schroeder, his sister; two nieces, Sara (Tony) Warmka and Rita (Wade) Lambrigtsen; and five great- nieces and nephews, Greta, Roman, Naomi, Aaron and Mia; as well as his ex-wife, Virginia Krohn; and other beloved family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jim (1972) and Julia (1977) McWilliams, and brother-in-law Ardell Schroeder.
His family wants to thank Shaleen for her care and attention during his final years. They also thank the Pigeon Falls community for all their assistance.
Visitation will be held at the Upper Pigeon Creek Lutheran Church Wednesday, July 9, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Following the service, burial will take place at the Upper Pigeon Creek Lutheran Cemetery, and all are invited to the church for luncheon and fellowship.
