NANCY JURCEK

NANCY JURCEK

Nancy Jurcek passed away on the night of Feb. 11, 2023, at the age of 92. She will be remembered by her children, sisters, grandchildren, family and friends as a kind, comforting and steady presence in so many people’s lives.

As a mother of six, Nancy had a wide repertoire of skills that included beautiful sewing and knitting, a blue ribbon-winning cheesecake recipe and a knack for reigning in nonsense (though likely much less so for her grandchildren than her own children). She was also a great storyteller, a steadfast Packers fan and an enthusiast of long phone calls with friends and family across the state and country. Among all these qualities, Nancy was also incredibly proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose lives she followed closely and pictures she invariably kept on walls and tables in every home she lived in. Nancy’s family is lucky to have had such a dedicated fan and supporter of their pursuits.

Although Nancy grew up and lived her final decades in southeast Wisconsin, her true home was among the pine trees and Lake Arbutus in Hatfield, WI, in the house built by her late beloved husband, Joe. She was full of stories about life in Hatfield, and her demeanor always livened up when she spoke about that period of her life. Nancy will be buried next to Joe at the Hatfield cemetery, finally returning home to be near the man and the place always held so dearly in her heart.

Nancy is survived by her six children, Pam (Richard), Jill (Steve), Peter (Debbie), Judy (Jim), Charles (Lori) and Patrick (Kirsten); her sisters, Judy and Sharon; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her memory will be cherished by so many.
