PATRICIA MARIE (DISCHER) HOOD

     Patricia Marie (Discher) Hood, 81, passed away at home in Fairchild, WI, Nov. 20, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. Pat was born Oct. 30, 1941, in Chicago, IL, to Eugene and Druella (Finley) Discher. 

     She graduated from Black River Falls High School in 1959 and was the first in her family to go to college. She graduated from teachers college in Cochrane, WI, in 1961 and had her first teaching job at the elementary school in Humbird, WI. She then went on to teach in Rhinelander and Antigo.

     Pat then served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps from 1974 – 1977. While stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA, she met Robin Hood. They resided in southern CA, Atlanta, GA, Tacoma, WA, and Black River Falls/Alma Center, WI, during their 40 years of marriage.

     Pat’s passions were raising her boys, baking, reading, playing the organ, crocheting and most of all, being Nana. Her two favorite jobs were running a day care and waitressing at Empty Pockets in Fairchild for senior lunches. She was highly popular in Brookdale retirement home in Tacoma, where she spent her last few years before moving back to Wisconsin. 

     Patricia is survived by her sons, Robin (Caitlin) Hood, Mark (Dana) Hood; and stepdaughter Serina Hood; along with her grandchildren, Thomas, Marley, Avery and Cameron Hood of Tacoma, WA; sisters, Marcine (Bill) Barkley of Janesville, Karen (Dale) Zank of Fairchild and Kris (Mike) Burlingame of Alma Center.

            She is preceded in death by her husband, Robin Hood; her parents, Eugene and Druella and her sister, Shirley (Murvel) Lunde.
