RITA A. HANSON
Rita A. Hanson, 75, formerly of Hixton, WI, died at her home in Rosamond, CA, Sept. 21, 2024, with her daughter by her side.
She was born and lived in Independence, WI, until graduating high school in 1966. She married Robert Hanson of Northfield in 1967 and moved to southern Wisconsin. In 1975, they returned to Hixton and owned and operated Hanson’s Bar and was employed at Black River Falls School District until moving to California in 1986. There she worked in accounting at Simpson Paper Company until attending the Academy to become a correctional officer. It was a career she loved until medically retiring. She took great pride in her home and family. She enjoyed traveling, flower gardening, spending time in Montana, reading, bowling and creating heirlooms. She also loved her pets, especially her yorkies, Duke and Chewy.
She is survived by her daughter, Ronda Lawton of Hixton, WI; her grandchildren, Kandy Lawton of Rosamond, CA, and Stephen Lawton of Hixton, WI; sisters Doris (Jim) Dingeldein of Black River Falls, WI, and Ruth (Steve) West of Alberton, MT; and brother Frank Maciosek (Shirley) of Black River Falls, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Jessie Maciosek.
A celebration of life will be held Dec. 1, 2024, at the American Legion Hanson-Lien Post 368, N. Hoffman Street, Hixton, WI. Open house will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. with a service at 2:30 p.m.
