RITA SCHNICK

     Rita Schnick, 76, passed away Friday, July 25, 2025, at her home in Northfield. 

     Rita was born May 21, 1949, to Harlow and Margorie (Oppegard) Nelson. She graduated from Whitehall High School. 

     She was united in marriage to Charles Schnick Oct. 5, 1968, at the Northfield Lutheran Church. They farmed together for many years. In between working on the farm and raising their son, Travis, Rita ran a bakery out of her home. She made many wedding, birthday and confirmation cakes over the years. She was very active at the Northfield Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday school and participating in the Ladies Aide and Homemakers Club. She also cooked for many of the area schools.

     She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Sharon Nelson; sister-in-law, Clarine Nelson; and brother-in-law, Robert Gile.

     Rita will forever be in the hearts of her husband, Charles; son Travis (Janet Fox) Schnick; brother Clayton Nelson; sister-in-law Rozann Gile; brother-in-law, Oswald (Diane) Schnick; and special friends, Rozanne Ruzic and Bonnie Thompson.

     The celebration of life memorial service for Rita will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025, at the Northfield Lutheran Church. A visitation will be held at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

     The family would like to extend their extreme gratitude to the St. Croix Hospice staff.
