SUSAN LOUISE GAEDE

SUSAN LOUISE GAEDE
Susan Louise Gaede, 79, passed away peacefully May 7, 2024, at the Pine View Nursing Home in Black River Falls. She was born July 28, 1944, in Milwaukee, WI. Susan’s journey through life was marked by an unwavering dedication to her family and community and she leaves behind a legacy of love, service and laughter.
She graduated from Black River Falls High School in 1964, and in the following year, her passion for beauty and self-expression led her to beauty school. This was the foundation for her successful career as the beloved owner of Falls Beauty Salon and Alley Cuts, where she not only styled hair but also nurtured countless friendships.
Her commitment to her hometown was evident in her active involvement in local governance. Susan served as a county board member and sat on the Jackson County Board of Directors, contributing her voice and vision to the community she held so dear. She was also a dedicated foster parent for over 30 years, providing a safe and loving home to children in need. Her work co-facilitating a domestic violence group reflected her deep empathy and desire to support those facing challenges.
Susan’s interests and hobbies were as rich and varied as her contributions to the community. She tutored children at school, sharing her knowledge and kindness with the younger generation. She loved country music, especially Chris Stapleton. An avid Green Bay Packers fan, she enjoyed watching games and cheering on her favorite team. Known for her great sense of humor and her exceptional ability to cook for others, Susan’s home was often filled with laughter and the delightful aromas of her cooking. Her main purpose in life was clear—to be a devoted mom and grandma—and she excelled in this role, creating an enduring bond with her family that time and distance could never diminish.
But above all, Susan’s greatest joy came from her role as a mother and grandmother. She is survived by her loving children, Jana (Jeremy) Nandory and Paul (Jena Pronos) Gaede; her cherished grandchildren, Jordan Hill, Dylan (Marcy) Hill, Ryan Nandory, Cody Gaede, Zachary Gaede, Justin Gaede and Evan Gaede; and her adored great-grandchildren, Jordan Hill Jr., Jazlyn Hill, Harper Hill and Yeshaya Gaede. Susan also held a special place in her heart for her “adopted grandson,” Chad (Bridget) Lokken and his children, Leo Lokken, Lilli Lokken and Nic Croissant. She is also remembered by her half-siblings, Mark (Rhonda) Peterson, Lynn (Bruce) Nauth and Jillian Holliday.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Thelma and Tom Sampson, and her beloved husband, Larry Gaede.
Funeral services for Susan will take place Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the Black River Falls United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Pastor Inwha Shon will officiate. Family and friends are invited to visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
