Terrance John Pfaff

Terrance John Pfaff
Terrance John Pfaff, 63, of Preston, MN, passed away Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN, surrounded by his family due to complications from trauma sustained in a UTV accident.
Terrance was born May 12, 1960, in Black River Falls to William and Marilyn Pfaff. He graduated in 1978 from Lincoln High School in Alma Center. He and his father established Silver Mound Dairy in Alma Center, which was the beginning of his lifelong career in dairy farming. In 2004, Terrance and his dad moved to Preston/Harmony, MN, where they continued the Silver Mound Dairy partnership.
Terrance married Jamie Bodza in 1984 and welcomed Lyndsey and Mitchel. In 2002, he married Collette Nauman and they welcomed Shawn and Gracie.
Terrance didn’t have a lot of free time, but in his younger days, he and his “crew” built a pulling tractor or two and traveled around the Tri-state area competing. He still enjoyed going to pulls when he could, meeting up with old pulling buddies.
He was a pretty good cook and would often share his “chef’s” talent, dropping by with a crockpot filled with a simmering beef roast. He could throw together a jar of pickled asparagus, but he may have used the juice from a jar he’d bought.
He enjoyed being out in the field working and watching the sun come up, often sharing a picture of that sunrise with others. He could fix anything, because he often had to. He was a man who could take lemons and make lemonade out of every situation he found himself in and that, too, was a gift he passed on to his children.
It was his faith that guided him through every single day. While he was often late, he attended church almost every Sunday at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Granger, MN. He was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Alma Center.
What he most enjoyed, though, were his children and grandchildren. He instilled in them the importance of hard work, honesty and a strong faith. It was when he was with them that he smiled his biggest smiles.
Terrance is survived by his children, Lyndsey Kampen (Ben Skaar), Black River Falls, WI, Mitchel Pfaff, Milwaukee, WI, Shawn Pfaff (Chloe Gulbranson), Preston, MN, Gracie Pfaff (Wyatt Breeser), Preston, MN, and Nick Nauman, Preston, MN; grandchildren Emma and Chase Kampen; sister JoDee Brooke, Alma Center; brother Steven (Kristin) Pfaff, Alma Center; and brother-in-law Steven Powell, Merrillan; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Bill and Marilyn; sister Paulette Powell; and niece Olivia Brooke and great-niece Taytum Rogstad.
Funeral services for Terrance will be held Friday, Dec. 8, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, Alma Center, with lunch to follow in the church’s fellowship hall. Pastor Jeff Jacobson (St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church) and Pastor David Shudy (Grace Lutheran Church) will officiate. Burial will be at East Lawn Cemetery in Alma Center. Pallbearers are Sam Pfaff, Mark Webster, Mike Boone, Brian Erickson, Bill Laufenberg and Kris Lien.
Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home in Hixton is assisting the family with arrangements.
