WAYNE R. BROWN

     Wayne R. Brown, formerly of Black River Falls, WI, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2025, in Chippewa Falls, WI. Born in Black River Falls March 30, 1949, Wayne was the oldest of 12 children born to Richard and Marcella (Sally) Brown. He was raised in Black River Falls on the family farm and graduated from Black River High School in 1967.  After graduation he continued his education at UW-Stevens Point. He joined the National Guard in 1969 and served through 1975. In 1970, he was united in marriage with Nancy Haugstad. Together they raised their two children, Lance and Angie, who he was so very proud of, in Black River Falls and Rothschild, WI.  Wayne and Nancy divorced, but remained friends for numerous years after.

     Wayne had a successful career of 30 years with General Telephone Company, where he traveled all over the country and received many accolades for his work. He took great fulfillment in being an active member in his Optimistic Club for many years in Wausau to support the community. Wayne loved playing golf, hunting with his dad and brothers and being outdoors enjoying cross-country skiing, camping, berry picking and firewood harvesting with his family and always ensuring his yard was immaculate. He was an excellent handyman, and woodworking was his specialty. He was also a Packer Fan, a guru at trivia and a music and cigar enthusiast.

     He is survived by his son, Lance (Kim); daughter Angela Brown; and grandsons Colten Brown and Devon Brown. He is further survived by brothers Jerry (Tamara), Gene (Fern Springs), Steve (Mary), Ron (Kristy), Dave (Danette), Art (Monica); and sisters Linda Chapman and Debra Bound; and sister-in-law Karrie Eisold; plus many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

     Wayne was preceded in death by parents, Sally and Richard Brown; siblings Chris, Jeff and Peggy; and brothers-in-law Steven Chapman and Jim Bound.
