YVONNE T. RICHARD

YVONNE T. RICHARD

Yvonne T. Richard, 89, of Prairie du Sac passed away at Sauk Prairie Hospital March 11, 2024. She was born in Jefferson County Oct. 14, 1934, to the late Albert and Elsie (Vinz) Traeder. She attended and graduated from Jefferson High School and later from University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in x-ray technology. It was at UW-Madison where she met her husband, Terrance Hays Richard. They were married Sept. 1, 1956. He preceded her in death April 23, 2004, while they resided in Black River Falls.

In her early years, Yvonne worked at University Hospital in Madison and later at Talbots where she enjoyed her flair for fashion and clothing. Yvonne served on the Village of Plain Board, River Valley Players Board, Tri-County Human Services and the Plain Library Board. In 1987, she and Terry moved to Black River Falls where she worked at the Black River Falls Public Library for 13 years. While there, she volunteered at the Black River Falls Hospital and for Interfaith Caregivers. Yvonne loved her cats and enjoyed spending time with family. She was an avid reader and loved cheering on the Wisconsin Badgers and attending concerts and plays. She was especially proud of her grandchildren, often attending her grandson’s high school and college basketball games.

She is survived by her children, Michael Richard, Julie Richard (Edward Buonvecchio) and Mark (Amy) Richard; grandchildren Emily Richard and Alexander (Arielle) Richard; great-grandson Jordan Hays Richard; sisters-in-law Fern Traeder, Carol Richard and Susan Glade. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers Howard, Gus and Dwaine Traeder; and her sister, Corrine Shaw.

A private family celebration of life will be held. In honor of Yvonne, her family asks that memorials be directed in her name to Black River Falls Public Library, Black River Falls Memorial Hospital or to your local humane society.

Yvonne’s family would like to thank the Sauk Prairie Hospital for their care of Yvonne and to Kelly Breunig and her staff and Yvonne’s friends at the Pines Independent Living in Prairie du Sac.
